A day trip to the World Heritage monument of Mycenae and the ancient theatre of Epidaurus! Mycenae was a major ancient centre of Greek civilization from 1600 BC to 1100 BC. First stop to our trip is at the Corinthian canal and the region of Argolis, followed by a visit to the Unesco World Heritage Site of Mycenae. Visit the renowned archaeological site, home to king Agamemnon. Highlights of the visit include the Cyclopean walls, the Lion Gate, the Royal Tombs of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra and the Treasury of Atreus. The tour continues with a traditional Greek lunch at a tavern nearby and a stopover in a long-established pottery factory. Next stop is Nafplion, a picturesque city of Greece, with the Venetian fortress of Palamidi and the isle of Bourtzi. Nafplion was the first capital of the modern Greek nation. The day trip continues with a visit to the ancient theatre of Epidaurus. This famous monument is reputed to be the birthplace of Apollo and was a cultural and historical centre. Performances of great ancient Greek plays are still performed here [until today]. It is the best preserved of all Greek theatres with perfect acoustics.
